Women in Revolt: an exploration of short films made by female filmmakers.

Shorts OnTap, London’s fastest growing event for film-makers and film lovers, is set to bring to the city a ground-breaking new film series exploring women’s diverse identity in April.

The Shorts On Tap team will deliver a series of three short film events that will explore what it means to be a woman in the 21st century. Club des Femmes, a queer-feminist film club, will guest curate a program of classic and contemporary queer-feminist artists’ film and video work entitled Body of Work.

Over three weeks an impressive list of up-and-coming and established female filmmakers will share their latest films on a range of themes including the body, FGM, sex and control.

The 3rd and final event in the Women in Revolt series entitled Body Of Work  is at the Hotel Elephant, Elephant & Castle on April 20th at 8pm.
The third chapter of the series investigates the most material dimension of sex and sexuality: the body. In an age when commodification has almost completely silenced any mainstream political discussion of the casual use of female nudity, we revisit some seminal films and look to recent works made by women artists exploring the female form.

Like at every Shorts On Tap screening, audiences will be able to discuss the films directly with the people who made them.
